PolOS Alpha Branch
PolOS — A Web-Based Fake OS with Real Features
PolOS is a fake operating system that runs entirely in your browser. It includes a working file system, window management, a basic terminal for installing apps, and even a simple 3D game engine made for mobile. There’s also a built-in browser that lets you visit sites like YouTube or Crunchyroll (using a small addon we’ll link to inside the OS).
It's meant to feel like an actual desktop environment, just... in the web.
What You Can Do
-
Open and move around windows like on a real OS
-
Use a file manager, terminal, and basic apps
-
Launch a browser and watch real videos (with a small workaround)
-
Experiment, poke around, and see how far a web-based OS can go
There’s no loading screen or long bootups — the whole thing loads in about a second. We’ve added a 12-hour clock just to make it feel a bit more alive.
Why This Exists
Honestly? Just wanted to make an OS. That’s it. A browser-based one, something that feels real but also lightweight, weird, and fun to mess around with.
Some of the code came from AI generation, but the design, layout, and overall concept were made by hand. It’s a mix of tools and ideas mashed together to see what’s possible — especially on mobile, where most fake OS projects fall apart.
Where It’s At
PolOS is still very early , Things will probably break, but that’s part of it. We’ll keep updating it as often as we can (maybe once a week or so). Once we hit version 0.1, we’ll consider it officially “in development.”

PolOS isn’t finished. It’s not perfect. But you can open it up right now and use it — and that’s kind of the whole point.
